Summer Basketball Camp 2022
REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
The Homeschool Lounge Summer ‘22 Basketball camp was a success! Since the purpose of our organization is to aid in expanding, and in some cases, improving the social skills among home-schooled children, we opened this program to both home-schooled and traditional students. Thanks to our donors and sponsors, all of the children were able to attend the basketball camp at no cost to them or their families. The children were also provided with free lunch and refreshments everyday while attending the camp. The support we received from our community (see sponsor page) helped make this event meaningful to the children and aligned with our cause. Stay tuned for more programs and events.
RODEO @ BOUCKAERT FARM
May 29, 2021 was an absolutely beautiful day, full of excitement for those of us who were lucky enough to be a part of this event! As lockdowns were being lifted, so were spirits. It’s safe to say that we all were anxious to get back to doing the things we miss the most. Among those who attended the rodeo were The Homeschool Lounge Inc. team, the organizers of the Rodeo @Bouckaert Farm, and some very lucky homeschooled children. Spectators traveled from near and far, even bordering states, to attend this event.
For the group of homeschooled children who were present, this was their first time attending a rodeo in any capacity. There were bounce houses, food trucks, and games; some of the children even got to ride on a horse! In between watching the rodeo events and playing with other children, the homeschooled children volunteered their time to help out at our information and fundraising tent. The children gained experience in serving customers and improving their social skills. Because our fundraiser for this particular event was selling hotdogs, the children also learned to operate a POS system, along with counting money in a fast pace environment. Some of the children who helped were as young as 5 years old!
Overall, this event was a success for so many reasons and a good time for everyone. We are hopeful that we will have many more events going forward for our home educated children and their families.
